Review of Tim Watson by Andy Scott

By 11th January 2016Reviews

Tim Watson is marching down his own musical path, committed to commissioning, performing and recording new works for solo saxophone with large ensemble. This is a brave move which is proving to be a roaring success! His stylish performance of Pete Meechan’s Fenix Blue, technical virtuosity in Peter Graham’s In League with Extraordinary Gentlemen, and warm and focused tone in Adam Gorb’s Concertino, are evidence that Tim is a fine musician who possesses a hunger, desire and passion to expand the repertoire of the saxophone (for which we should all be grateful) and constantly push himself musically. Tim doesn’t talk a good solo….. he does it, all guns blazing!!
